Sidewalks and High Heels, Seoul

The Women of Korea love their high heels, especially their black patent leather booties. It’s a good thing too because the city of Seoul has been undergoing some major changes.

During a meeting with former Major Oh-Se-hoon, along with other female city officials, one woman complained that her heels often got stuck in the pavement. Soon after came the birth of the “Women Friendly Seoul” project, which includes more job opportunities, additional bathroom stalls, daycare options, among other things, specifically aimed at women.  The most noticeable changes were the new flat crack-less sidewalks and designated parking spots painted in bubble gum pink, enabling women to walk less in their heels.

Some citizens believe this project, costing hundreds of millions of dollars, is a waste of taxpayer’s money. Some have other complaints about it.

“If I’m forced to park on the second underground level because women have taken up the rest, I don’t really think that is fair.” he said. “At the least, I’ll be using up more gas.”

While you’re at it, cook your own meals and wash your own dirty drawers, man.
