Sandy Chu, Shanghai Style Blog
Look for her in the streets of Shanghai, walking around the French Concession. Everyday she is cute as a button because she does a heavy dose of walking, which keeps the body warm during Shanghai winters. I refuse to walk because California girls dont walk. So, I look a mess in 3 layers of thermal, oversized college sweater, jeans on top of leggings, boots, snow hat, fur-lined leather mittens…looking like a bum on a bicycle.
She SHOULD dress well on a daily basis. She does, after all, have a fashion blog. ><
Happy Holidays!

“It’s virtually impossible to have a bad day wearing a vintage dress.”

Introducing Kimberly Truhler
A former UCLA marketing exec, Kimberly has decidedly ventured into the world of pop-up shop land with vintage attire, during these tumultuous times.Brave California girl. Well, that’s how they come.
Talk Shop
The GlamAmor shop is adorned with over 100 dresses from the 50′s and 60′s, an era with attire that a woman of any age could wear. It is mostly classic, with a “West Cost Prep, that draws from the WASPy style of the East Coast, but is definitely more colorful since its so sunny here in southern California.” Unfussy and clean.
On Vintage
The vintage style transcends time, which is what makes vintage an anomaly. Although it comes from a certain era, the greatest of vintage is forever. Another attribute to vintage is that, back in the day, construction on these garments was so grand and precise, it is now a lost art. Kimberly can appreciate this art.
Inspired
Kimberly also chronicles all her pop ups and loves on her GlamAmor Blog. She is greatly influenced by Edith Head, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O, and C.Z. Guest.

Sunset in Downtown LA, photo by Gardenia
I flew in just in time for the Current Affair Vintage Pop-up Market event in sunshiny downtown LA. With 23 Vintage shops, most hailing from California, it seemed way too small to my judgmental eye. Arrival time 1:30pm. With the first few shops it was very disappointing and we figured we would be out of there in 5 minutes. Departure time 5:30pm. Like with most vintage shopping, rummaging through all of it can be exhausting but totally worth it when you find that one amazing dress. I found 3. My friends found 5, + accessories.
The hardest and best things to find is vintage jewelry. And my friends managed to find some great ones. I am still on my lifelong quest for the most amazing antique cocktail ring. My right hand aches for it.
While there we ran into GlamAmor owner Kimberly Truhler in one of her bright vintage dress and coat combo, very indicative of what her shop in Santa Monica offers. I can see wardrobe from Mad Men shopping here for Holloway, Peggy and Betty.
Next, someone ran into us. I don’t really appreciate small dogs but this one was so funny and adorable. She makes one eye very fashionable.
The best dressed at the event was this lady in the most amazing vintage lace dress. This dress was made for her as it shows off the ink on her left leg. Or, she put on the dress and then got stamped. Regardless of this chicken or egg quandary, this outfit is perfection.

Got some really great vintage shades from Allyn Scura Eyeware
Adorable Marisa Tomey was there shopping vintage as well. Her clothes were frumpy but really cute. it was probably because of the way she held herself with ease.
