Best Sellers from Cheap Poo Lu, Shanghai

2011 March 11

Not stellar, but much improved from just a few years ago. The most popular items this winter on the streets of Shanghai with the young ladies are the extended big-waist tribal-esque sweaters/cardigans paired with black boots and stockings. All found on ‘Cheap Poo’ Lu, Shanghai’s wild discounted wholesale market. Qipu Road  is like forever 21 quality goods but on roids.

It is my worst nightmare, but if you feel like taking a crazy jungle adventure I can’t stop you. That and living in Detroit.

Never been a big fan of Qipulu market. But I would love to go there with somebody who really knows the place and the best stands to find decent stuff.

I refuse to go to Qiipu lu since they told me they had shorts big enough for my big ass. Telling me I have a big ass is never the way to get into my wallet.

i like the navajo-esque giant sweater. it’s nice to see (early) signs of a fashion revolution.

i never see style like this in Shanghai. i was on the subway the other day and i saw two girls in matching, furry, purple, orange and green vests. like a polar bear had run through a children’s art class. no joke. wish’d with all my might for a camera.

I saw that navajo print sweater in the window at the Star Place on Hengshan when I was in a taxi last night.

i don’t think i would personally choose the navajo print sweater but i think they can look great. i saw a girl wearing one with just jeans, men’s flat shoes and a small over-the-shoulder purse, and she looked adorable.

My only qualm with the sweater is the shapelessness of it. Good for skinny people, but would swallow my waist alive and leave me looking like one giant boob.
