No Man, The Bund
2011 September 22
I would rather be overdressed than underdressed any day. I am all for casual in everyday wear, especially having married into casual (a Hawaiian boy), but so inappropriate. This was taken at the launch of 6 Magazine, a new fashion editorial mag. When the occasion calls for it, dress appropriately. If you don’t know the rules just do not wear board shorts with sandals at a cocktail event or past 8 pm, unless there is a swim-able body of water within 2 miles. The Huangpu River does not count. I wouldn’t even dip my toe in that.
P.S. Please never wear that combo of flowers on flowers ever again, perfect stranger. Honesty hurts.
I totally agree with you! Not the right outfit for a night on the Bund!
Two years ago, I went to a wedding in Jinshan and I was completely overdressed in my cocktail dress. Guests kept staring at me and taking pictures of me. Even the bride told me that I was beautiful and elegant… That is probably the only time I wished I was a little underdressed.
OH, nothing I hate more than jeans at a wedding. I am assuming you saw some of that. Ive only seen it in Shanghai. Unless its a luau wedding, its not acceptable.
I am glad you were dressed appropriately at the wedding. They need the exposure.
Completely unacceptable. But…not that surprising.
