I would rather be overdressed than underdressed any day. I am all for casual in everyday wear, especially having married into casual (a Hawaiian boy), but so inappropriate. This was taken at the launch of 6 Magazine, a new fashion editorial mag. When the occasion calls for it, dress appropriately. If you don’t know the rules just do not wear board shorts with sandals at a cocktail event or past 8 pm, unless there is a swim-able body of water within 2 miles. The Huangpu River does not count. I wouldn’t even dip my toe in that.
P.S. Please never wear that combo of flowers on flowers ever again, perfect stranger. Honesty hurts.

After having had my bicycle for over 3 years, it finally went missing. It occurred while I was away and under Cristina’s supervision. She has had about 14 bikes stolen from under her. She has really bad bike karma. Never let her babysit your bike. Good news…I am going to try to pimp out my husband’s vintage bike into this (see below), but it will never be as pimp as this funny little bike. Do people still say “pimp?” I am now officially one of those aging 70 year old men who still say groovy, when it is not cool to say groovy. Except I’m 30. Fakakta.

What do you call this? Burnt orange? Vermillion? Some kind of coral? Whatever it is, it’s definitely one of the season’s “it” shades (btw, pleated skirts also seem to be the season’s “it” skirts).
I’m super wealthy so I always peruse the monthly “How to Spend It” magazine that comes with the Financial Times (read: I steal my office’s subscription), and variations on this orangey hue are just everywhere, so there’s guaranteed to be a shade for all skin tones.
And it’s not just this color, but color in general that is blooming in storefronts on Nanjing and Huaihai. I did some lunchtime shopping at Zara – bright color blocks of pink, blue, green, yellow, orange – everything – as far as the eye could see (also more pleats and LACE!!).
Not that I’m not also mightily in love with the nudes and pales that we’re seeing, but indulging in a little color therapy feels so good.

I think pale colors are great on Asian women. Too bad in China they’re not huge fans of pale tones.
